Hello everyone! I hope you all are excited for the first official day of fall tomorrow; I know I am! We are also a full month into the semester, so I hope my fellow students’ classes are going well.
This past Thursday was the due date for my Advanced Painting course’s contiguous landscape piece. If you haven’t read my previous post yet, I highly recommend checking it out! It includes progress photos that led me to the current stage of my painting. Overall, I’m really proud of this painting and I believe that it was majorly successful. There are definitely a few places I’d like to tweak and adjust to make it feel truly complete. For example, I’m not fully satisfied with the state of the grassy plane just yet. In my personal experience, I’ve found that after working on a piece for an extended amount of time, it can be helpful to let it rest for a bit before returning to work on it. So, that’s exactly what I’ve decided to do with this piece.
Starting this week, I will be focusing on the next assignment for this class rather than getting hung up on the previous one. My hope is that after leaving it be for some time, I might have a new-found appreciation for the painting (and hopefully I will develop more skill before adjusting it).
