Designing My Own Type

Hey guys!

This past week in my Typography class we got to do something extra fun. I’ve always wanted to work on my own typeface, so we had to either draw, or use hand lettering, to write out our names. I played around with a few different types of forms and different ideas.

I really wanted to express my own personality through it, so with my ideas I made sure to include something bouncy but well put together. On top of that, I wasn’t sure if I wanted a serif style or a sans serif style, so I searched around Pinterest for any ideas. Here’s what I got!

First I sketched some possibilities

After I worked on my sketches, I edited them on Illustrator, and added some fun colors. The background was made up of watercolor textures that I colored in Photoshop, then image traced on Illustrator to create a fun mosaic effect.

Over all, I’m very proud of these, I may even use the Geori, my nickname, on my business cards in the future!

Well, that’s all for this week, take care guys and I’ll catch ya later! Thanks!
