On social media, we’re flooded by posts and stimuli left and right. Scrolling through our feed and timeline, we zip by hands that pry to get our attention. As artists, we often interact with or follow multiple art accounts for a variety of reasons. I often do so to gather inspiration. Other times, to study and observe their techniques. And others, because it looks cool!
I think it’s nice to go back and appreciate the amazing artworks people spend hours upon hours sinking care into. Especially since we can learn from them! I’ve chosen 3 artists whom I follow and hold in great regard that have recently posted. I’ll explore their galleries a bit so you can get an idea of their common subject matters, art style, and what makes them stand out!
@mossacannibalism or Mossa, is an artist who really is an enigma. Although I am deeply in love with their art, they don’t add descriptions or explanations. Some of their artwork depicts current popular media, old internet, or historical references. It’s extremely varied and I find the depictions to be very intriguing. They have a great grasp of anatomy and the placement of colors and tones on human skin. Their choice of subject matter is what I find the most interesting as well as the way they render their pieces.
The next artist is @wildreamz. I find this artist to be especially admirable due to the stylization of their subject matter. Although I do like realistic artwork, the way they approach shapes and combine them with composition and values is really breathtaking! Overall, I find it to be endearing. When approaching stylization and simplification of faces, I tend to keep their artwork in mind to find success.
The final artist is one of my personal favorites. @rinrinfart_’s artwork genuinely radiates such a high level of creativity, chaos, and a deep understanding of aesthetics and color. I can’t put into words how much I enjoy simply looking at this person’s artwork. Their creative decisions are really inspiring to me. Their artwork can vary from cute and endearing to creepy and unsettling. Their character designs are so cool and well-constructed that I cannot help but keep them as references when considering the designs of my own. I highly recommend taking a glance at their art and following them!
Even just now going back through and writing about these artists, I’ve grown a deeper appreciation for them. Look back at the artists you follow and think about why you do!
Best of luck to you all in the new semester and new year!
