With the spring 2018 semester starting tomorrow, I cannot help but think about how close graduation is for me. My certification tests are out of the way and now the only thing that’s standing between me and my future job is two sessions of student teaching and a three hour graduation ceremony.
There are so many things that I am excited for in my last semester at Marywood and student teaching is 100% one of them. Continuing to teach my private art lessons, host another wine and paint night, go to Italy for Spring break, and participate in two gallery art shows with school are just a few.
Last semester I had a little taste of teaching for five weeks, but now I will be teaching for seven weeks in Scranton School District’s John Whittier Elementary school and eight weeks in Valley View’s Regional High School. I’m most excited about working with my co-operating teachers again and seeing students that I’ve also worked with before, while experiencing new things. When I was previously working with my co-op from Valley View, we were in the elementary school, but she recently moved up to the high school and I cannot wait to experience it- they have a block schedule! 90 minute art classes, yes please! It doesn’t get any better than that!
Above is an image that I painted last semester and finally finished earlier this week. It’s scary to think how close graduation is, it has become so much more real cause it’s just around the corner.
