Finished Menu Project

Hey, guys! I’m back with some final photos of my physical menus, so it’s gonna be a shorter post this week. I’m really happy with how they turned out, so I wanted to share them with you all. The printing process was a bit of a struggle, but I am still very proud with the results.

For the main menu, I used one of the plotter printers in the art building and then glued the pages together so that they were double-sided. The paper and print was good, but the color was kind of on the duller, more muted side. Some of the pages didn’t line up quite right, but that was probably due to the paper cutter. Overall, the layout of the menu turned out great; it was very clear to understand and organized just how I planned.

I also shared my design for my takeout menu. That one was a little trickier to figure out how to fit all the information on, but it did take less time than the main menu. I printed this out on one of the laser printers by the printmaking room. The paper quality was not as great as the plotters, but I think the color came out a lot brighter and more vibrant. Another downside of the laser printers is that when you print double-sided, the designs don’t quite line up perfectly, so it was slightly off when I was trimming it down. Regardless, I think it came out great!

In my last post, I mentioned that I was still figuring out my kids’ menu, as I was struggling with the layout and design. Luckily, I found a design and organization that turned out great! I wanted the menu on one side, with images of all the food and drink options, and an activity sheet on the other. The activity side is what stumped me the most because I couldn’t find a good way to lay it out without it looking too organized and planned. Eventually, I was able to settle on a design that I liked, and I think it turned out perfectly. I also printed this menu on the laser printer as well, so I had the same issues with the paper and alignment.

Overall, I am super happy with how this whole project came out. It was a real time-intensive project and it wasn’t without its struggles, but they turned out amazingly in the end. I would love to hear your thoughts on this project, so please leave a comment letting me know what you think!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you all in the next one!
