Hard to believe I finished my fourth semester at Marywood University! That said, as an Illustration major in Marywood University’s Art Department, rather than having standard final exams I am given the task to complete various final projects for my art studio classes. Out of all my classes, my final for Digital Illustration (ART 441) was probably my favorite!
Animation & Storyboard Concept:
As I already previously mentioned in my other blog posts: for Digital Illustration class, we had to conceptualize our own concept for a story. Mine is titled HEADLIGHTS and is a single player, horror video game about the demonic Deer Demon and his herd of Dead Doe taking over the town of Chestnut. Anyways, for my final project, I wanted to create a concept for a teaser trailer with the call to action of to preorder the game.
Plot:
The trailer begins with Bruce’s Mom (Bruce & Buster are the two, partnered protagonists) standing frazzled in a dark environment. There is a sudden jump scare with the Deer Demon’s long, snake-like tongue coming into camera shot and latching itself into her throat. It then slithers its way deeper inside her in an effort to devour her soul. She convulses and begins to bleed out. Now front-facing, the Deer Demon is revealed and lifts up his scythe to decapitate Bruce’s Mom off camera. Finally, her decapitated head is layered in gore and mounted on the wall. The camera zooms in on her dead mouth, and the game cover and “PREORDER NOW” call to action fade into view.

WRAP UP:
Overall, I had a wonderful semester! I cannot believe how much I learned as an illustrator. Whether it be enhancing my skills, learning new techniques, or even understanding the nature of the illustration workflow & environment. I am forever thankful for the opportunity to study Illustration and I cannot wait to see what my future holds! Nonetheless, I am excited for summer break as I am beyond exhausted… lol.
