Introducing…Me!

Hello everyone!

I am the new Printmaking blogger for Where Creativity Works. My name is Stephanie Juarez-Ventura but to most, it’s just Stephanie. I am a Junior Graphic Design / Advertising and Public Relations double major. I thought about minoring in printmaking but decided to go for a double major instead. Enough about me, let’s talk about printmaking! If you want to know more about me, just read my bio

Last year I took my first Printmaking class where I was able to experiment with letterpress, screen printing, linocuts, and even got to make my own paper. I fell in love with the hands-on experience and I learned to appreciate small imperfections. As a Graphic Designer, I spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer where I can constantly revise and alter the work I make. Stepping away from the computer has been refreshing because I’ve been able to express myself, even without an “undo” button.

One of my favorite prints is, Climb Mountains. I used a linocut mountain range and used the letterpress for the quote “Climb mountains, not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world”, by David McCullough Jr. on handmade paper.

When I accepted this blogger position, I did a quick Google search on printmaking to get inspired. I was amazed at all of the printmaking techniques available, many of which I have yet to try. I’m looking forward to learning more about printmaking and it’s history and sharing that experience with you!

I am grateful for the opportunity to not only be a blogger but also to develop my writing skills, step away from the computer, and make art that is just ME. Now that you have a little bit of background about me, I hope you’re as excited for me to be here as I am.
