Labor Day Weekend

Well, it’s Labor Day weekend here in Scranton, PA and we know what that means…La Festa Italiana! A time when the entire city comes together to celebrate the rich Italian culture that Scranton bares.

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of experiencing La Festa, let me give you the run down. A great number of vendors set up shop in the heart of downtown Scranton. Aromas fill the air as you walk around the square! There is fresh food, drinks, and live entertainment that celebrate the culture.  There is something for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest.

I had the opportunity to visit the festival a few times this weekend and what can I say, I was not disappointed. I had great food and met great people. Some who traveled hours just to get here for this celebration! I never realized how big La Festa was until this year. However I’m not surprised due to the large influence that Italian culture has across the country. I am happy that the city takes the time each year to recognize this. Its great to celebrate cultures, finding our differences and similarities through history and culture its an amazing thing! It’s an important thing. If you ever get the chance, visit the city during this time. It’s a great way to spend your Labor Day weekend! Trust me you won’t regret it!
