Recreating Artist’s Work

My latest assignment in painting class has been to recreate any piece of my choosing by Italian Painter Giorgio Morandi. While surveying his works, I found that Morandi has a well defined style. He often paints simple objects in a still life, such as vases bowls and flowers. Also the color palettes are similar in all his pieces with a burlap-earth tone goin on.

Morandi has pieces in multiple modern art museums across the country and was known for his simplistic paintings and printmakings.

It was difficult for me figuring out the difference in tone because they all are close in value. I really liked the outcome though – I believe I captured Morandi’s subtle ness well.

So here is a comparison of Morandi’s Still Life and my recreation.
