For the Senior Exhibition coming up this Saturday, April 6th, I wanted to make something that showcased some of my printmaking. I had a bunch of leave and plant prints I had make a while back that I loved. I decided to make a composition that showcased them to frame!
I started by laying out what I figured would work best as a collage. I placed my composition on top of the frame I was going to put it in. This frame is a 24 x 30.

With a few tweaks I was set to go!
My next step in the process was deciding a background color. I wasn’t sure if I should make the background paper, or fabric. I ended up deciding on fabric because it would add nice texture to the piece, and complement the handmade paper resting between the leaves.

After putting both fabrics in the frame it was hard to chose between the reddish orange, or the lighter green. They both gave a very different mood to the piece, but after consulting with my friends and family ( and flipping a coin ) green was the winner!
This is displayed at Marywood in the Mahady Gallery, feel free to come check it out on April 6th 1-4!
