This week was the opening to my senior show. It was super exciting and I was ready to see all of my work put together! I really enjoyed the way they placed them all together, I think it came out really nice. Leading up to the show’s opening, I was super nervous about whether or not I was going to like everything together and I was afraid that I was not going to have enough pieces. I had this fear especially because there was one ceramic piece that I did not get to finish in time. Nonetheless, it all came out nicely, my paintings on the wall and each ceramic piece lined up on pedestals.
Next to seeing my work up and done, everyone else’s work was also fantastic! I loved being able to see my classmate’s work and how they’ve grown as artists. Everyone did a phenomenal job! Lots of people came to the opening, classmates, family, friends, and professors. It was a great outcome! There was even complementary food and drink. It was a great time! Once my family and I were done at the show, we all went out to dinner to celebrate. We went to a nice Italian restaurant in the area, Casa Bella. It was the first time that I have been there, it was really nice and had great food! I am so happy the my family was able to come down to see my artwork and celebrate this great accomplishment.
Now that my senior show opening is over, it is time to get back into the studio. As I stated above, there was one ceramic piece that I could not finish in time for the show, however I was able to finish it shortly after. This piece was my female torso which I decided to glaze yellow. I really like how it came out! Alongside the finished torso I made a couch. I wanted to make the couch as a Christmas gift but I might just keep it and use it as a butter holder. I am excited to spend more time in the studio and not stress about finishing certain pieces. I can work at my own pace better now!
