Sketchbook Paintings

I find painting in my sketchbook to be a great way to explore with color, collage, and mark making. I enjoy going back and forth between working on a large canvas and my sketchbook because it keeps me thinking in different ways. It doesn’t allow me to get to comfortable with a systematic way of making a painting. I think it’s important to keep yourself uncomfortable so that you can create something that you can be impressed with. This definitely is not easy to do, so I like to exercise ideas in my sketchbook that may later make their way to the canvas. This helps to keep my ideas for paintings fresh and interesting.
