SKIN FLICK is another one of Gobelin’s graduation short films that I recently stumbled upon in my Instagram feed.
This animation is a surprising length – hitting 8 minutes, I recommend watching this beautiful artistic-feat in its entirety! Please be warned, there is adult content within (sexual, implied and censored nudity).
Their pitch was the following:
“An X-actress named Gasoline, stars in the Devil’s cannibalistic snuff movies in exchange for a beautiful bombshell skin that hides her demoness form. Displeased with the ratings, the Devil threatens to take her skin away.
Panicked, Gasoline begs for one last chance by pitching her idea for their next film: trapping newlyweds and eating them on their honeymoon.”
During SKIN FLICK, Gasoline begins to realize what she truly wants when she encounters someone who cares for her. Treating her as neither an object or a monstrosity. By the end of it, Gasoline comes to terms with herself and gives up her skin to escape with her lover.

This short film was created by Louise BAILLY, Daniela DEL CASTELLO, Alice LEVY, Bruno DE MENDONÇA, Elifsu MERIÇ, and Joey Quoc TRAN was especially striking to me. Its unique style, animation, aesthetic, and concept really resonated with me as such a cool and endearing piece of art!

One thing to note is also the voice acting and music within this film. It really compliments the lovely animation. Everyone did an amazing job and helped bring these characters to life.
Similarly to Niccolo, SKIN FLICK has an Instagram account chronicling their creative process and insider info. I really recommend taking a look through this. The colorscripts below are something that especially caught my eye. The use of color is sooo amazing in this animation! I also love the small subtle expressions used to portray the character’s emotions. You can tell a lot of love and thought went into this.
I personally feel a lot more inspired to pursue animation after seeing some of the works for Gobelins. It’s really sweet to see 2D animation continue to be taught and embraced for its wonder. 3D is awesome but there’s something so special about 2D that I really cherish. I’m wishing the best for these artists moving forward! They’re gonna go far !
