I received a message from the former KPS (keystone paranormal society) president and founder of KPS Marywood yesterday. He had made a logo for the KPN (keystone paranormal network) a while ago upon its founding, but he felt it was outdated and he wants something a bit cooler and flashier. He suggested a design with a skeleton and the earth involved. I went through a few different thumbnails shown below.

These are super rough thumbnail sketches, but you can see my process so far. I’ll make a few more thumbnails and then I’ll polish a few of those and send concept images over to him. Currently my favorite thumbnail is the one on the bottom right, blown up below.

If I’m not convinced by any other thumbnails, my plan is to experiment with a few variations of this design. I want the world to be prominent. I also want to highlight the countries where KPS members are. Because of this, I’ll experiment with some designs with a squashed earth that has all the continents present, as long as it doesn’t end up looking like a flat earth society… that’s not what we’re going for. I’ll experiment with different locations of the KPN name, the best bet is likely just below the design, but if I can fit it on the earth graphic in a clever way, I will. I’ll definitely design this in Illustrator or image trace from Procreate as it would be best for this to be a scalable vector graphic. We shall see if I incorporate any elements from the original design, shown below.

I like the network aspect from the original, but I’m not sure how I can incorporate it into the skeleton and earth one. I’ll experiment more and show progress in the next blog entry! Speaking of showing progress, I never updated on the final crochet hot air balloon from the winter. I gave the crocheted portion to the client, and she added on the basket. It looks super cute! I’m glad to see things I made being used and appreciated. It’s super cool 🙂

Just a short one sharing some little projects this time. Next time, I’ll share where this project goes and anything else I make over the next two weeks.
More to come! ~Marissa
