Student Spotlight: Caitlinn Belcher

Meet Caitlinn!

Name: Caitlinn Belcher

Year you’ll be graduating: 2022

Major: Graphic Design

Minor(s): Photography and Art History

I am majoring in art because I wanted to choose something I loved to do for four more years of schooling, I didn’t want to do years worth of classes for a “safe” career path when there are many practical jobs out there within the art field as well!

The kinds of things that inspire me are seeing other successful young artists creating things and doing what they love, my family and friends also inspire me to do my best in everything I do and constantly support my art and show it off whenever they get the chance.

My favorite class so far was 3D design, but I have also enjoyed most of my graphics classes along with Typography and Photojournalism.

When I’m not in class I’m probably at the gym, track practice, studying or hanging out with friends or eating.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far at Marywood was orientation for the incoming freshmen, it was one of the busiest times of my summer but it was amazing meeting a new group of people on campus.

When I graduate I plan on moving near Philadelphia because the area would be closer to my reserve unit and would give me more opportunities for me to use my degree. I would like to have a career in multimedia design and portrait photography.

I’d recommend the art program at Marywood because the program itself has so many different courses available but the teaching staff is amazing and you are constantly learning new things with each project you complete. They not only help with the technical learning of each program we work with but they are more than willing to help students deciding what to include in portfolios and how to keep improving any work you do.

The best spot to be on campus is the learning commons because it’s a central location on campus and you can get something to eat or coffee and hang out with friends between classes.
