Name: Judy Marchione
Year you’ll be graduating: Class of 2024
Major: Art Therapy
Minor(s): None yet! (Hopefully either Public Relations or Religion)
I am majoring in Art Therapy because my high school art teacher sat me down in tenth grade and asked if it was something I would want to try. I was thinking about going into nursing, psychology, or social work, but I had never considered a field in art—it was my first proper art class! After researching it for, like, a day I knew it was what I was meant to be. Me and that teacher are still in contact too! (shouts out to you Chef Mo)!
The kinds of things that inspire me are Instagram, Pinterest, and all online contemporary artists. My favorite artists’ handles are @nevahosking, @marinejohanna, and @reweki on Instagram.
My favorite class so far… I really can’t tell yet! I like all of them… don’t make me choose!
When I’m not in class I’m usually listening to Benee, getting coffee at Zummo’s, or Essential oil diffusing with my pals. Kooky, I know!
The coolest thing I’ve done so far at Marywood was Gushing with Professor Jenkins about our favorite artists. Not Art Related? Getting abducted off the sidewalk by an upperclassman into the Chocolate Frolic. Oh, if I could get into that story…
When I graduate I’d love to move to the Seattle area with my first roommate ever, Hailey! (Not from Marywood, but in high school. But my roommate here is amazing, love you Sarah!) Hopefully there, I’ll start practicing as an Art Therapist and working towards getting a PhD in Abnormal Psych. Oh, and, I want to get a tattoo apprenticeship fit in there somewhere.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because it’s only been a week and a half and I’m already friends with all my professors!
The best spot on campus is the third floor of the library, especially when it’s storming.
