Student Spotlight: Leah Dinsmore

Hey guys! Meet Leah, a fellow art therapy major. Check her out!

NLeah dinsmore ame: Leah Dinsmore, Class of 2018

Major: Art Therapy

Minor(s): Painting and Psychology

I am majoring in art because of the many ways materials can be manipulated to create a piece that represents my unspoken thoughts. Creating art gave me a voice that I didn’t have when I was starting off in my earlier stages of life. My path as an artist began before I had the ability to talk.

The kinds of things that inspire me are traveling. The majority of my work from this year was created because of the experiences I have had through exploring new places and cultures.

My favorite class so far was Advanced Painting since I got to have my own studio space on campus, which allowed me to get in the zone with no outside distractions.

When I’m not in class I am either in the library or hanging out with friends.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far at Marywood was study abroad in Florence, Italy for 5 weeks. I learned so much about art and also myself.

When I graduate I am attending Long Island University for Clinical Art Therapy and Counseling in the fall.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because of the almost new art facilities that we are given to create and learn about art. The buildings are very nice and spacious compared to other schools art departments, which I think, gives Marywood students an upper hand.

Thanks for reading this week, guys and gals!
