Welcome back! This week we have Art Education major Madison Hegarty. Madison enjoys incorporating music into her artwork and someday hopes to become a high school art teacher.
Meet Madison
Name: Madison Hegarty, Class of 2020
Major: Art Education
Minor: Philosophy
I am majoring in art because I love how it’s free will to express yourself. You can take your problems and turn them into beautiful pieces. Or take good things in your life and make beautiful art pieces.
The kinds of things that inspire me are definitely my friends and family. I’m also inspired by music. Music really speaks to me, and I like making the picture go with the lyrics.
My favorite class so far was Basic Drawing. I definitely learned a lot and have improved so much from that class last semester.
The coolest thing I’ve done so far was the figure studies. The human body is amazing, and to be able to capture that is awesome.
When I graduate I want to move to Washington state and become a high school art teacher.
I would recommend the art program at Marywood because of how serious they take it. You will learn everything you need to know here, and all of the professors genuinely want to help you.
