Hello, and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025!!! With the holiday season behind us I wanted to take a brief moment to reflect on something that I spent a lot of time doing during my holiday break; that being, baking.
What Got Me Into Baking:
Within the past couple years, I developed a fondness for baking during my free time. This desire for baking came from watching my family bake in the past. For years, my grandfather was the owner of a restaurant and he too had a passion for baking. That said, he retired shortly after I was born but he continued to share his skills and love with his family, including myself. Unfortunately, my grandfather is recently deceased; however, my father continues my grandfather’s legacy through is excellent cooking; as for me I am continuing his legacy in baking.
Besides following in my grandfather’s footsteps, I love to bake because it allows me to spend quality time with my family. During the holiday we bake hundred of holiday cookies. The days leading up to Christmas, we would spend hours in the kitchen with one another cracking jokes, listening to holiday music, and bonding with one another. This experience is something that I cherish.
The Art of Baking
Of course there is an art behind baking. Probably my favorite step in the baking process is making everything look pretty. I love dressing the cookies, icing the cakes, and even arranging the trays of baked good to be harmonious is design and layout. I constantly experiment with different decorating techniques; such as, tip sizes for frosting, sprinkle designs and colors, and spreading motions and styles.
