Appreciating Art History

Hello there and welcome back! Since Thanksgiving has just passed I wanted to take a different approach to this week’s post. I usually like to write about art and artists I find fascinating but today I want to talk more about the feeling of art in history in general.

During Thanksgiving we often think of what we are grateful for. For most, this includes family, friends, opportunities, etc. These things apply to me as well, however for my list of things I’m grateful for I would most definitely include art. Art is something I like to appreciate everyday in all forms, and especially its history. If it weren’t for my fascination with art history I would not be so appreciative of current artworks or even my own work.

I am incredibly grateful to be so lucky to be able to learn about these artists and artwork. I have drawn so much knowledge and inspiration from what I have learned. From Edvard Munch to Winslow Homer I have been able to find the beauty and artistic intelligence in each. Even with being such opposites in style and message there is something to appreciate about both artists and every artist in-between.

To my fellow artists, I hope that these posts I make can make you feel this same feeling of appreciation for art and its place in our history. For me, it really does change the way I look at things everyday. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving let’s give thanks to the artists who came before us and who have continued to teach and inspire us for centuries.

Thanks for joining me again this week and I’ll see you again next time!
