As much as I would like to keep abandoning rough animations to the sands of time, for my purposes they need to be finished, unfortunately. I had a walk cycle that needed to be redone and two others that I had sketched out. The walk cycle needed to be inked and colored over again because the first time around I made it much smaller than I needed it. I completely forgot that it would have to be a different size depending on the scene, so it needs to be the largest size that I will need. I can always scale it down, but not up.

I find that with animation, the exciting part is the sketching, not the finalizing. Completing a sketch feels much more rewarding than lining and coloring, probably because the sketching part is where the animation happens. The line and ink are satisfying too, just not as much—so staying motivated to finish animations is personally difficult.

With the walk cycle rectified and the other two finished with, I’m not sure where to go next on this project. I could work on different characters, return to the backgrounds, design the menus and UI, etc. I’m happy to be making progress on this project, even if it’s slow.
