Wrapping Up the Semester!

This semester has truly been been a whirlwind, it has been full of new experiences, growths and amazing art making. Over the semester I was able to complete two very dynamic pieces, one was a 4 foot by 4 foot modern take on the feminine figure using wood and glass. I was met with many challenges during this project, one of which was fitting giant wood pieces into my car! My second piece was a more whimsical idea of a mobile turned modern (are we even surprised). This piece also included wood and wire. Both of these pieces were very different but I was able to show my artistic style in both pieces.

Now enough about me…the other students in the sculpture studio have also been working hard to create some awesome pieces and were able to show them off in their recent gallery opening. The art was created with a long list of materials including wood, glass, rocks, cement, clay, plaster and even silverware.

When thinking about the next semester I have some mixed feelings because as a master’s student I have fulfilled all my sculpture studio credits but I am so excited to see how these other students grow as artist!

And big news…jewelry classes are coming back! There has been a break from jewelry classes but they are coming back for the fall semester and I am so excited to see the wonderful things that are created during the semester.

This is Emma Brooks signing off one last time and remember STAY CREATIVE!
