I am really sorry I started this out with a cheesy graphic design pun. You have to admit that they are the best kinds of puns, though….
Anyway, on Thursday, Feb. 12, the AIGA Kick-Off Party will be held in the Comerford Theater (Science building) at 8:00 pm. The Marywood AIGA Student Group is a newly formed organization open to graphic design majors/minors. Illustrators and any students interested in design are welcome too! I am the president of this new group, which is exciting and scary because I have never been the head of a club before. This is another perk of coming to Marywood….you are encouraged to get out of your shell and jump into a leadership opportunity.
Our Kick-Off Party includes a screening of the movie “Sign Painters” with some pizza and refreshments for your viewing pleasure (yes, FREE FOOD). Then we will be introducing the AIGA and some of the benefits of signing up for a membership. The AIGA is the largest professional association for design, and being a member gives you access to job postings, an online portfolio, discounts, etc. It is a great way to put yourself out there in the design world and as this group develops we hope to hold trips and events as well.
So come and join us on Thursday to hang out with the Marywood design community and find out more about AIGA. I promise, I’ll try to refrain from corny design jokes.
