2017 Graduate Art Exhibition
Mahady Gallery, Shields Center for Visual Arts
Opening Reception: Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 5-7pm
Exhibition Dates: December 2, 2017-January 8, 2018
The show features the works of graduate students Gavin Blackburn, Jennifer Peters, and David Schulte. Gavin is receiving an MFA in painting and uses a trompe l’oeil style in his works. This technique, meaning “deceive the eye” in French, creates an optical illusion for the viewer by depicting realistic imagery that appears to exist in three dimensions. You can view some of his current works in progress on his blog.
Jennifer is receiving an MFA in sculpture. The gallery will show her ceramic pieces as well as an installation experience she has created for viewers. She was recently featured in the Where Creativity Works “Student Spotlight” which you can read here. She also has an Instagram you can follow to view more of her work.
David is receiving a Masters in printmaking and will showcase a series of his prints in the show. You can also view some of his work in the Print Guild. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 5-7pm. Be sure to come out and see some of the great works by our graduate students!
