So for the holidays my parents surprised me with a pretty sweet gift. The 3Doodler which began as a start-up project last year is now in production. What is the 3Doodler you may ask? The 3Doodler is a 3D printing pen, plain and simple. I didn’t understand the appeal of it at first. The pen melts long strips of plastic material and it re-hardens while you draw your line creating objects in 3-dimensional space. The Pen restricts the width of all line work to a single point. However, only being able to produce thin lines translates into how you have to control the material. I haven’t had time to play with the pen yet as the holiday weekend calms down, but just from looking online at the results people are getting from this device I’m excited to see what I can come up with. I’ll gather my results next week.
