Hey everybody, this week I wanted to bring attention to a more local gallery located in Pittston, PA called Art E Fekts. Opening June 13th, wire sculptor Sean Brady and photographer Mary Kroptavich‘s works will be on display in an exhibit entitled “In the Absence of Sight”.
The even is free and the reception runs from 6-9pm on Thursday June 13th. You can go out and meet the artists and wine and cheese will be provided. On Nepascene’s website, it’s mentioned that “Sean Brady has been sculpting with wire since 1998, mostly working with galvanized steel between 12-21 gauge. His work an be seen all over the Wyoming Valley area, including The Marketplace at Steamtown and Montage Mountain Resorts” and that “Mary Kroptavich is a portrait artist who strives to capture the beauty within us all. When she is not photographing humans, she is in the woods capturing wildlife; being outdoors is what keeps her grounded”.
Tying back to the name of the exhibition, it was also mentioned that “the child of two blind parents, Kroptavich grew up having no camera or photos on the wall. Since childhood, she has been the “eyes and storyteller” for those who cannot see. That experience has given her the wonderful talent of seeing beauty with her eyes closed and creating beautiful images. She has an affinity for classic fine art portraits and black and white images”.
This exhibition seems really cool and you should check it out to support these local artists. To read more about the upcoming exhibition, the website is https://nepascene.com/2019/05/wire-sculpture-photography-exhibit-opens-art-e-fekts-gallery-pittston-june-13/ .
