Art: Friend or Foe? You Choose!

I feel that many people are intimidated by art so they do not really give it a chance. I can honestly and personally admit I used to be that person. At times I still feel a bit intimidated especially since I never took an art class after the eight grade. I felt that way because most of the students I met so far always wanted to pursue art.

I only found out I wanted to pursue art almost a year and a half ago in an Introduction to Art class which was about the history of art. And, honestly I would not have it any other way! I think it is very important to encourage anyone who has a passion for art to purse it no matter what and I want to encourage others! There is a quote by one of my favorite authors whom I consider to be an artist of writing and it is:

“If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it” —Roald Dahl

I can promise you that Marywood art faculty does an excellent job at promoting this! They will even teach you that your mistakes will become your greatest achievements, which at least for me makes me feel a bit better because I know I make many mistakes daily! And these mistakes are the best things that can possibly happen to you because these mistakes can only help you grow and learn more as an artist. Art is just as every other skill or talent in life; it is not easy but can be if you keep practicing. Practicing can get you so far and successful, not everyone becomes a Leonardo or Michelangelo overnight!

Roald Dahl Quote: I saw it on tumblr a while ago and I wrote it down.
