Can anyone else relate to the fact that the bar for homemade gifts is set pretty high when you are an art major? When receiving our Bachelor’s Degrees in the small print they should say “minor in fanciful decorating, homemade card making, and excellent arts & crafts skills.” Well, this Valentine’s Day I am feeling the pressure. I love giving and receiving gifts especially when they are homemade, but spend hours on end making the perfect gift. Nevertheless I’m in the spirit of luuuvvee and wanted to share what I have created for my Valentine’s gifts so far.
For the person in your life who has a sweet tooth – get baking! Here I stacked two cupcakes together in a perfect little mason jar, added some ribbon and voila! Don’t forget presentation is everything, so fanciful icing and sprinkles are a must.
For the person who deserves some extra love this Valentine’s Day – who can go wrong with cookies and a homemade card. Remember what you learned in Two-Dimensional design and pull out all the stops in creating the perfect card!
Last but not least, for a guy with some style – make him a bow tie. I first recruited my two friends who are bow ties aficionados for creative and moral support. I bought my fabric at Jo Ann Fabrics and used this tutorial. Granted this took a few hours, but I’m really proud of the end result.
So what do you think? I hope my Valentines will be impressed with creative and artistic skills. After all these gifts I think I’m this much closer in getting a minor in fanciful cupcake decorating, homemade card making, and excellent arts & crafts skills.
