Artist Discovery

One of my favorite things about living in this technologically-advanced time period is how easy it is to discover new information with just the swipe of your finger. This is especially convenient for artists, who no longer have to live in or travel to big cities around the world just to keep in touch with the art world. Through likes and shares on Facebook, I came across the work of Kit King.

I’ve heard a lot of people knock hyperrealistic art as not creative, holding no message, and pointless. This is in no way true with King’s art, however. In the bio of her website, she writes, “Through a focus on hyperrealism, my paintings are reflections of the ephemeral visual relationships around us. Capturing fleeting moments that affect our emotional state from a singular glance, under the aegis of a heightened sense of reality.”

I followed Kit King on Facebook and Instagram, where I get to see works in progress, pictures of her loved ones (including her adorable cat), and updates about her artistic journey. This goes to show how beneficial social media can truly be, as this is how I have found many of my favorite contemporary artists.
