It’s so nice to be back at the studio after this long christmas break. I was excited to start a new painting inspired by some ideas I have been working through over the past couple weeks. The paper I am using is vellum and it is extremely thick and it has a smooth surface. Both qualities allow for lots of paint to be moved around the page with ease. I started off with just getting some marks and paint on the page. Then working on filling this space with colors that vibrate against one another but also leaving some areas of the previous layers untouched. I don’t want every shape to be closed and complete. I’m trying to open up my paintings and allow some of the shapes to breathe.
