Big Bowls

Lately I have been working on a lot of ceramic projects and I decided to work on some larger pieces. I’ve talked about my tiny bottles, but now I am going to go to the other extreme and talk about the new large bowls I am doing. So my tiny bottles only used about .25 pounds of clay or less. They are super tiny! My big bowls that I just threw are ten pounds! I made two different styles and one I decorated the underneath part compared to the rim or the inside. I took some slip and a paint brush and put a thin band of it on the under part of the bowl. Then I got a metal rib and quickly went up and down on the slip while my wheel was still spinning.

In the future I am planning on making some nesting bowls. I think it is going to be a lot of work and probably very time consuming. I also think that this is going to be very rewarding when I am all finished. I’m not sure what direction I am going to be taking this week, but I finally had time to sit down and write out some notes of how I want to make some of my pieces and what colors I am thinking about. I have never really done that before but it definitely help me organize my thoughts and help me think better!
