Bottle Flowers

This week’s post is about how to make flowers out of the tops of water bottles. I’ve done this before for my recycling project for Sculpture I, nature’s plastic. It’s easy to do and great for a decoration project.

what you will need:

  • Aquafina water bottle
  • scissors
  • X-acto knife
  • hot glue gun
  • paint

How to:

Step 1: cut and trim

The Aquafina bottles have a specific design at the top that can easily be turned into a flower. First cut where the body of the bottle and the top of the bottle meet. Next, trim around the parts of the top where the petals would be but don’t cut them completely out. Finally, use your X-Acto knife to cut along the swirled design to the base of the top and bend each petal back as you go.

Step 2: cap the center

To make the center of the flower, use the cap of the bottle and hot glue gun it to the inside of the flower.

Step 3: Decorate!

This part is completely up to you. You can paint it how ever you want, add glitter, or even just leave it as is for a recycled look. They’re perfect for spring decorations or if you glue clear fishing line to it you can hang it from the ceiling. Those are just a few ideas but just have fun with it.
