Hello! Something I’ve been thinking about lately is enhancing my resume for education. Educators are essential in our society, but once you obtain a teaching degree, it does not mean your education is over. There are many ways to further your education and present yourself in today’s competitive job market.
One tool I utilized was a LinkedIn free trial. With a LinkedIn free trial, you get 1 month of premium features. One of these features was access to LinkedIn Learning. On LinkedIn Learning, you can take courses that offer certificates you can put on a resume. After your free trial expires, these certificates are still good!
I first discovered these online certifications in one of my Education classes. Here, I was able to compile 5 total certificates, 2 from LinkedIn Learning and 3 from EdPuzzle. As an art educator or artist in general, I initially didn’t see the relevance in getting these certifications. However, upon looking further into these websites, there are so many videos and courses that can apply to a variety of jobs. Some certificates focus on marketing, public speaking, AI, and even Adobe software.
Edpuzzle is an alternative option, mainly for educators, but it is free. Here, they have different teaching strategies and training on the implementation of Edpuzzle and other software. I’m sure if you do more digging, other websites offer similar opportunities as well. I believe Google, similar to LinkedIn, offers a free trial too.
Even though it may not seem like there is much application for art, I find that is not the case. As an individual artist, you will have to learn how to market yourself and stand out. Having certificates on your resume geared towards marketing and business may be beneficial to employers looking for qualified candidates. A resume is the perfect place to show off different certifications pertaining to your speciality. Especially with art education, ensuring you are trained and proficient in educational strategies/techniques stands out. I will link the certification websites below.
