In the weeks leading up to this past Christmas I created a series of paintings inspired by the old dolls my mom puts out to decorate for Christmas. I was a little homesick in my dorm before the holidays and having the doll paintings on the walls helped. By the time I went home for break I had about six of them. I knew I wanted to make more but I got sidetracked.

This week I decided to revisit the subject matter as we approach Christmas in July (about half a year since the originals were made). I was inspired by some doll cloths I found while looking through old toys. The first dress I decided to paint is a little flapper dress that is completely covered in gold colored lace. I thought this dress would be fun to try since the first doll paintings were in more Victorian style outfits.
