Hi everyone! This week’s post is going to be a short one because I wanted to give you all something to think about. I’m talking a different approach this week and giving you guys a quote on art. This quote is by Fyodor Dostoevsky, one of my favorite authors. He is a Russian novelist, whose work is fantastic (in my very biased opinion). The quote is:
“The world will be saved by beauty” – Dostoevsky
The reason I wanted to talk about this quote is because it’s so intense. It’s short, direct, and extremely powerful. When I read this, I immediately thought of a bunch of artworks from the Renaissance era that made me believe beauty saved the world. Dostoevsky was alive in the 1800s, and even then, he knew the value of art.
Art adds flavor to our world; without it, the world would probably be very boring. Art also connects us to history. The reason I enjoy art history so much is because it gives you a glimpse into the past through visuals.
Overall, I think this quote embodies the mindset of all people who enjoy art. To us, these artworks are significant and add value to our perception of the world.
