Class Critiques

As an artist, it’s normal to be critical of your own work; but the thing is, you don’t want anyone else to be critical of it. This is why class critiques can be hard. Honestly, I still find myself occasionally feeling defensive or insulted even after the countless number of critiques I’ve gone through. Sometimes it’s hard to remind yourself that people are just trying to help, but it’s the truth.

The best advice I can give is just put your ego aside and understand no one is insulting you as an artist. Sure, that can be easier said than done, but it’s important for you to understand and take constructive criticism positively. It will only help you grow. Sometimes people will point something out you never even noticed. And always remember that no one is there to make you feel bad about your artistic abilities.
