In Basic Photography, it is anything but basic. The techniques that are taught to us are far from basic.
Photography majors are required to take more than just Photo classes. We learn the basics of art from taking 2 Dimensional Design, 3 Dimensional Design, Basic Drawing, and Basic Painting. At first I had no clue why these classes were necessary! My first semester here I had to take 2D Design and Basic Drawing. Little would I know that these two classes would form my photographic base. In 2D we learned about the fundamentals of art and the principles of design. Drawing, I think, helped me the most with Photography. I can hear Mark Weber, my drawing professor, in my ear every time I am about to take a picture.
“Ty,” he’d say, “take responsibility for your composition!”
At the time, I had no idea what he was saying. But as I grew in my studies and craft of photography, I can smile now.
Here are some more of my landscape photographs focusing on Urban Landscapes. Let me know what you think.
