Hello! It’s been a little difficult for me to get into the studio spaces recently so I’ve been getting a lot of work done on for my Mixed Media class at home. I am beginning to feel the crunch of the semester and I feel like I bit off a little more than I can chew with the ideas I had, but any progress is good progress. I shared some photos a little while back related to the miniatures and sorta doll creatures I am making, and with things looking a little closer to finished I wanted to check in again.
With a newfound love for Gorilla Glue epoxy and quite a few hours of tinkering, I managed to mount the ceramic skull mask to his rig. He is weighed down by his foot and hardware and held upright by a length of chain. I am still adding all of his wire and finishing his arms, as well as considering his costume- I hadn’t intended to cover anything with his cloak but with the additional detail of some ribs, I need to be more creative with the cut and display of this figure.
These hands will come up a lot in the other pieces but I wanted to show one off in some detail. The materials are simple but I like to think the rawness is pretty.
Much less a work in progress is the set pieces for my first set of figures. There are still some fun things to add to the narrative and details to be weathered and painted (everything but the plant) but if I needed to stop here for time’s sake, I would be ok. I am most excited about the chair- it’s a replica of a chair in my room (though with much longer legs).
What’s Playing – I’ve been watching documentaries more than listening to music this week. Go explore something on your list and happy Holidays!
