Last week I talked about the meaning behind a signature and the guidelines to follow when it comes to printmaking. I’ve been thinking about the best way to approach my own prints but I have yet to make a final decision.
I have found some interesting signatures that I would like to share with you this week in hopes that they will help me find my own signature.
Albrecht Dürer Signature Clare Haxby Signature Tracy Lizotte Signature
I am inspired by Albrecht Dürer’s signature because it’s simple, recognizable and very unique.

I made a ligature in one of my classes and I’m inclined to use it for my prints but I want to simplify it and make it a little more interesting.
Many artists like to incorporate something in their signature to make it stand out. I like the idea of using a stamp like Tracy Lizotte for an extra layer security.
Clare Haxby does something similar with her prints. I really love the embossment that she adds. I feel like it adds another layer of art to her prints. Now that I think about it, maybe I just need to perfect my signature like her, I mean just look at it.
