Have you ever had so many ideas in your brain that you want to draw them all at once? Have you ever lacked motivation to finish a piece and decide to start a new one? Have you ever looked at your newly started piece and gone, “yeah, I can start another.”
If you’ve thought to yourself at least one of those things, you’re not alone!
I could have 100 hands and I still wouldn’t have enough fingers to count how many pieces I’ve started but never finished. I get so many ideas I love and I know that if I don’t sketch them, I’ll forget the idea. And you may think to yourself, “why not go back and work on the sketch some other time after you sketch it.” You see, while I would love to do that, I procrastinate… a lot. Why would I finish a piece that I know I’ll love when it’s finished when I can instead make hundreds of sketches that I know I’ll also love and they take much less time…
Ok, yeah, I may have a slight problem. Starting from September 1st, I promise myself that I will finish at least 3 of my previous sketches. It may not be a lot, but they are some of my favorites.

In this sketch, the woman is focused on her little fish companion, unaware of the danger that lurks right outside. My thought process for this piece was the saying “There’s always a bigger fish in the sea.” I had thought about adding a third giant fish behind the eye, but I wasn’t too happy with that composition.
I thought of this piece when I actually saw a drawing on Instagram. The artist had drawn whales in the sky and, being someone who loves surrealistic art, it was something that gave me a lot of motivation.

My third sketch is actually one I’ve already done some coloring for. My main idea behind it is to always keep an eye out. You may wonder, “an eye out for what?” and truthfully, I don’t exactly know. I want to leave it up to the viewer’s interpretation. What are they all looking at? What seems to be this person or thing that is dragging away everything’s attention.
Writing this actually gave me a lot of motivation to work on these pieces, so that’s pretty exciting!!!
Thanks for reading!
