I have some really exciting news to share with you! This week I will be having my artwork shown at the Scranton Cultural Center on Friday, November 2, 2018. This is my first time having my artwork on display for the Black Scranton Project. I will be showcasing three of my painting and six of my ceramics pieces.
The Black Scranton Project is a project that resonate with me specially being a African-American in a majority Caucasian community. This project brings awareness and aims to highlight the black experience. This space dedicated solely to archiving, highlighting, honoring, researching and documenting the black experience. The exhibition was created to be a space to educate, inspire, encourage dialog and finally give credit and recognition to the contributions of the Black residents from the past and present. I am thrilled to be a part of this.
Participating in this show was not something I was expecting. A friend of mine sent me a flyer about it on Facebook so I sent an email of some of my work and got accepted to be part of the show. With this in mind, it just shows how social media can be a way to get your work out to a different audience.
I want to personally invite you all to come to the show at 6:00pm. Also, read this SHOUTOUT post featuring all of the artists https://blackscranton.com/shoutout/
Until next time!
That’s great
