First Illustration Class!

This post will be a little on the shorter side; I am currently busy with the start of my second fall semester and work in the Art Department at Marywood University. Regardless, I want to quickly discuss how the start of my first Illustration class is going!

I am an illustration studio arts major and being that I completed my foundation year, I am now starting to take courses that are closely connected to my major. That being said, my first illustration class is General Illustration I.

First Project:

Despite it only being the first week of the fall semester, we already finished our first assignment!

Granted, it was a simple introductory assignment; nonetheless, I am thrilled that the class is jumping right into the water!

Our first project was to create a NYC handout flyer. The goal of the project was to create something that someone on the street of NYC would be willing to take:

What Illustrators Must Consider:

After the completion of the assignment, we discussed what we learned from the assignment. That being, what an Illustrator must consider when creating:

  • Expectations
  • Creating something unique
  • Shape of design (2D or 3D)
  • Creating something interactive
  • Color
  • Aesthetics
  • Creating something fun
  • Clean communication
  • Creating something interesting
  • Target audience
  • Humor
  • Social responsibility
  • Creating something eye catching

WRAP- UP:

Overall, General Illustration I has me excited for the Fall semester and I cannot wait to see what is in store with my future as an Illustrator at Marywood University!
