Foundation Exhibit!

Hey everyone! I hope your first week back hasn’t been too hard on you and that your classes are relaxing! My first week has been a rush of experiences and fun which I am more than excited to share with you all.

I guess the first thing I will share with you is my first time helping out for any sort of exhibition or gallery, which is what I want to do in the future.

Being a junior in college this may seem a bit late for me to get started with such things but I feel like it was a nice simple start and I learned a good amount.

The foundation exhibition is coming up, a collection of last years foundation student work (and it’s all amazing), and I was invited by an instructor to help set up whenever I had the time.

Thankfully, I was free at the right time and so I could run in and help where I could. I helped organize some of the works, placing them where I thought they would work and listening to everyone’s input as well. It was interesting to see where they thought things should go and why, everyone sharing their ideas until the works were placed in the best possible spot.

Then we got to hanging, which involved math, which I am not too fond of. But it was still a good time, placing them up on the wall and tearing pieces of tape in order to mark the wall, ensuring each piece was centered at 60 inches and that they were an even distance away from each other.

Sadly, I had to leave for class but I still had a lot of fun with what time I could volunteer at the gallery.

If you have the time I suggest you stop by the Foundation Exhibition, which is located in the Kresge Gallery in Insalaco Center for Studio Arts running from September 2nd to 27th.
