Graphic designer, printmaker, and Marywood University professor, Christine Medley wrote and designed a book about printmaking this past summer titled Printmaking: How to Print Anything on Everything. The book contains twelve easy-to-follow projects that demonstrate printmaking techniques using common household items.
Medley runs a letterpress studio, Crow Designs Studio/The Workshop, that has hosted multiple letterpress and printmaking workshops for over 30 years. The Workshop is also open on most First Fridays with live music, activities, and art on display.
Printmaking: How to Print Anything on Everything
Twelve easy-to-follow projects demonstrate time-honored printing techniques for decorating gift bags and coasters, transferring images to mugs and t-shirts, and embellishing other items. An introduction to materials and equipment is followed by chapters on making your own tools, creating with found objects and stamps, designing your own custom plates for relief printmaking, painting stencils, and more. Most projects employ common household items.
