Jamming Out

Last weekend I photographed my first live music performance. I tagged along with local band Peach Polaroid for a day and got to experience the behind the scenes of the band. I was so thankful that they let me take their photos for the whole day!

I had such a fun time taking the band’s photos. The band’s vibrant energy helped me feel more comfortable to get up close to get detailed photos. They were very understanding when I was having issues with the lighting and helped me out with them. When we first arrived at the gig, the lighting was not the best and I was worried that I would not be able to take good photos but the band had no issue helping me. We were able to adjust the brightness of the main lights so I dimmed them to the appropriate lighting. They then added these fun colorful lights which really helped bring that energetic mood. In some of the photos I used the shutter drag method like I did for The Chatter to create that energetic movement.

This was overall a really fun experience for me and would love to do it again. I hope to become a concert photographer after college so I was really happy that I got to experience this. If you want to hear some groovy music, check out Peach Polaroid on Instagram and Facebook!
