Lack of Inspiration?

I hope all is well and everyone is still staying safe!

What is one of the best things you can do when you have artist block? I’m not sure about you, but I choose to go back to the basics. I know that this can seem to be a boring idea, but sometimes the best way to move forward is to take a step or two backward.

Personally, I like to make still lifes! It’s fun to try using objects that you wouldn’t normally use, like forks, spoons, knives, string. Another way to switch things up is to do something crazy, like painting with the opposite hand!

Artist’s like Julian Schnabel took household items, like plates that he smashed, and created collaged that he then painted over. There are endless possibilities to create something new and exciting!

Another way to get inspiration is to look up your favorite artists. Watch a documentary clip about their work, or researching some of their pieces can big a big inspiration. You can also discuss your favorite pieces with your friends and family to discover new artist from them!

All of these things will help keep the mind going. They work for me, so I hope they work for you!

Thanks for reading.
