When making art, my medium of choice is definitely clay or something that I can make 3D sculptures with, but I am making myself work on my line drawings. I love the look of ink on top of a watercolor background. I had to play around with different designs until I got the hang of it. I didn’t want to make anything with an actual subject matter, and I am just doing line designs for right now until I can work harder on my drawings.
I find doing mindless designs is very therapeutic and relieves a lot of stress from my week. I love to just sit down and draw for a few hours while I watch television.
The first one I made was a mandala and it is one of my favorite drawings just because it was the first one I ever made. I later started adding gold leaf in the designs to make it pop a little more.
More recently, I just tried making some smaller drawings of stone cottages that my aunt wanted me to make for her house. They are very abstract and even though they are tiny they took a lot of work because of all the individual leaves and stones. I didn’t want to make them perfect.
For the next few drawings I do, I am going to add more bold colors like reds and purples and see what I can do with monochromatic backgrounds. I have to keep working on my drawings but I really enjoy doing them. I need to continue thinking of new ideas and designs.
