So now that the spring 2026 semester is over, I am sure many of you are movie fanatics and are dying to know what movies may be coming up this year. There is a great movie line-up, and some of them I am really excited to go see! I wanted to start by talking about Mortal Kombat II. Based on the video game series Mortal Kombat, this movie takes place after the first one, following Johnny Cage, in which he has to fight against a lot of fighters to defeat Shao Kahn, who is basically the biggest threat to the Earthrealm and others. Many people are obsessed with the actor’s resemblance to the characters in the video game and also with how they handle their designs. I am sure many of you may like this video game, and so far it has been receiving good praise from audiences, so be sure to check it out since it is already out in any theatre!
Another movie I would love to add to this little list is The Mandalorian and Grogu! Yup, everyone’s favorite Star Wars duo is back for another adventure coming May 22nd. In this story, we follow the dynamic duo as they help the New Republic to protect what the rebellion fought for. I know a lot of you may be excited to see Grogu, considering he has become subject to a lot of merchandising and cuteness by the public. His unique character design became one of the best things Star Wars came out with and now we can see him and Din Djarin once more on the big screen!
Now, with the final movie on this list, it is one of the most anticipated, and I cannot wait to see it either. Spiderman: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker becoming Spiderman full-time while he overcomes a new evolution to his powers, and new threats come across him. Honestly, when I first saw the trailer, I was so happy that this movie was coming out sooner than we thought. On July 31st, you can catch Spider-Man: Brand New Day at any theatre. I am sure a lot of you have your personal O.C’s and are anticipating a lot of design choices from the creator of the movie, so be sure to look out for them!
