As mentioned in a few of my previous posts, I went to Paris, France for spring break this semester because I took the course European Art Study Tour in Paris, France. For the course, we are required to take photos, keep a sketchbook, and complete a final piece for First Friday Scranton in May 2017.
A few days ago, I had my meeting with Mark Webber to discuss my photos, sketches, and my big idea for the final piece. I am very pleased to announce Mark was on board with my ideas for the final piece! Now that I received an official okay to get started, I am very excited because I had my idea before I even left Paris! I knew from the start, I wanted to try something new and different especially when it came to scale. Usually I work with 16 inch by 20 inch canvases but this time I went for a 12 inch by 20 inch canvas along with four 8 inch by 10 inch canvases.
As for my focus, I am taking a different direction as well. While in Paris, I was beyond amazed with all of the graffiti and street art I saw. There was something unique and different down every corner in Paris when it came to the graffiti and street art. For me, there was simply something unusually beautiful and inspiring about the images I found. Thus bringing me to the decision to incorporate what I found within my final piece.
I would love to explain more and go in a little more depth of what I am working on but I want to keep it a mystery until First Friday!
