Along with my Painting class I am also taking Figure Drawing I. Drawing with pencil is quite different than drawing with charcoal. Shading with charcoal is similar to painting with blocks of color but instead of a wet medium I’m using a dry medium. I’ve tried to apply the same theory/process when working with charcoal as I do with paint. Because the value assignments are similar in both my classes its been interesting how I interpret  the mediums in relation to one another. Here are some of my drawings so far…
